Fired Heater Energy Recovery Improvement

Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Description

The COASTAL petrochemical plant wanted to improve the energy recovery of three of the fired heaters within their xylene isomerisation plant in Montreal, and Genesys’ process team was mandated for this study. The required modifications on these three furnaces to achieve a higher energy recovery at low capital costs were identified. A second convection bank was installed on one of the three heaters. Thestudy also highlighted the need to add two new rows in the convection bank of the remaining two fired heaters.

Genesys’ dedicated multidisciplinary team was responsible for the design of the new fired heaters, the coordination with the client and with contracted bidders, as well as coordination of installation and start-up activities.
